The buyer faces a bewildering range of cable choices when attempting to connect their PC to their TV. They may wonder which cables give them the best sound and picture quality, and may also want to recognise the respective choices they have to connect their television and computer together. HDMI cables are by far the most usual cable of choice nowadays, but buyers are ill-informed that they have other choices of connecting their television to their computer.

So, what are the ‘other options’ of connecting PC to TV?

If your computer, or PC, has a USB port or ‘socket’, there are some merchandise available from numerous online merchants who sells goods at retail which will grant you to stream both audio and visual content wirelessly from your PC, provided that your Television has a HDMI port or socket (same thing). Fortunately, closely all HD Televisions on sale in the UK are equipped with a HDMI socket, and each new 3D television is equipped with a HDMI port.

Connecting mini USB and micro USB PC to TV wirelessly

Some Laptops, Desktops, Tablet PCs and even Smartphones have mini USB or micro USB ports, and so to stream audio and visual content wirelessly from one of these devices, you would need a micro USB to USB (Type A) adapter, or mini USB to USB (Type A) adapter to use a Wireless PC to TV streamer.

Connecting iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch to an HD Television screen with a HDMI cable.

If you want to connect your Apple iPad or iPhone to your Television screen, you may do this by using an Apple 30-Pin Dock connector to HDMI (Type A) adapter in conjunction with a HDMI (Type A) 1.4 cable. This combining of adapter and cable may likewise be applied with the iPhone and iPod touch.

There is a staggering potpourri of HDMI cables available to the buyer at present, which may only be a good thing for the consumer. Due to massive competition, buyers have the power to demand ever-increasing levels of durability and transmission quality, at prices as low as 46p for a HDMI cable. It would be best to commend any form of HDMI 1.4 cable from a trusted online retailer.

Is it worth investing huge bucks into a snazzy HDMI cable?

If you have just expended your hard-earned cash on a 42″ HD Television, you may think that spending 40 on a “top-of-the-range” HDMI cable will ascertain better effigy quality, but it is widely regarded that around 9.99 is a sensible amount to spend on a HDMI cable (to strike a good compromise amongst value and quality), unless you require a cable of more than 3 metres. Lengthier HDMI cables tend to cost more than 10, but are surely a cost-effective substitute to connecting PC to TV wirelessly.

Connect PC to TV

If you don’t know your PC or TV connection type, use an online configurator to search for a PC and TV connection by Make and Model. If you don’t recognise the Make and Model of the PC and TV you want to connect, you may also search by cable connection type.

If your laptop lacks a HDMI input, but has a VGA socket, you have two options:

Option one: Buy a VGA (Male) to VGA (Male) cable, a VGA to HDMI converter box, a HDMI (Male) to HDMI (Male) cable, and a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable

Option two: If your PC likewise has a USB socket, use that rather and buy a Wireless PC to TV Streamer

Option one will cost you almost the same as the wireless PC to TV streamer, because the VGA to HDMI converter box will set you back at least 39.99.

Most wireless PC to TV streamer widgets are rated to work from a distance of up to 30 feet, so if you are planning to connect PC to TV wirelessly from a big distance, you will be better off using high quality HDMI cable, VGA cable and HDMI to VGA converter box, along with a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable.

You will need a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable when connecting using VGA because VGA does not carry audio signal. VGA ports ought to be employed in conjunction with a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable when connecting PC to TV.

If you have a recent Apple laptop or PC, you are likely to have either a Mini DisplayPort socket or Apple Thunderbolt socket. Most new Mini DisplayPort adapters and cables are compatible with Apple Thunderbolt for connecting PC to TV, so if you are planning to connect your Mini Displayport or Thunderbolt equipped Apple device to your Apple LED Monitor, you may use a Thunderbolt cable. Like HDMI cables, Thunderbolt also carries audio signal.

If you want to connect your Apple Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort PC, Desktop, Laptop, Netbook or Tablet to your HDMI High Definition Television, you may use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, or Apple Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter.

Some new televisions come equipped with a DVI port (either a DVI-Integrated, DVI-Analogue, or DVI-Digital). DVI cables do not carry audio signal, so need to be used in conjunction with a 3.5mm Mini Jack to RCA cable.

Bisson
I tried this cable with a 2011 macbook pro and ’09 27in imac to get 2560×1440. It works, but there is screen and pixel flickering. An apple store representative told me to try the Kanex mini displayport to mini displayport. I bought one from microcenter and it works great. I can now use the iMac in target display mode at 2560×1440 with no flickering. BTW – I also tried to use the thunderbolt cable, but that wouldn’t work. I thought thunderbolt was supposed to be backward-compatible with minidisplayport but I guess it isn’t.

I have a Mac laptop for work and frequently bring it home to finish up projects late in the evening. I’m a web designer/animator that uses programs that require lots of desktop space which can prove difficult on a laptop screen. Because of this lovely little cable, I can now hook my laptop up to my iMac and use that awesome display as an external monitor. It’s a little thing in a sense but it’s been a fantastically helpful development for me.

The odd thing here is that I ran around to several Mac based stores and the like trying to locate this cable. Nobody had any clue that the iMac could be used in such a way. The Apple store that I called seemed to think it might work but didn’t carry the cable. It was tough to find one online but I was happy to find a Belkin version because my prior experiences with their products have been solid. Thus far it’s been working great and would highly recommend it!

90% of the time it works flawlessly, but occasionally I’ll get flickering. It seems to be related to interference from the adjacent USB or power cables (they’re all on the same side on MacBook Pros). Moving the cables around a bit makes it go away. I would probably recommend checking out the Kanex cable recommended by another reviewer, especially since it’s something like a third the price.

It also works well with my Thunderbolt MacBook Air. However, you apparently can’t use a pre-Thunderbolt (i.e. mini DisplayPort) video source to drive a Thunderbolt iMac’s display.

Garcia
These cables work as they should and are of pretty good quality. One thing I didn’t realize however, is that they are blue colored, not the typical black. Not a big deal, but had that little bit of information been included in the description, I might’ve opted for different product. These are less expensive than most other hi-quality RCA cables, so for the price they’re a good option.

HP’s ProBook laptops are all going for a flat, ultra-thin boxy look and feel which is both stylish as well as functional. The HP Mini 5102 looks just like a HP ProBook laptop finish with a flat-brushed black gun-metal cover with rounded corners. The only divergence is it is size with it is 10.1-inch LED back-lit screen and ultra-portable chassis. Lifting up the cover reveals a very nice corporate black bezel with shiny surface finish. HP have also in some manner transported it is raised-island or chiclet style keyboard into the HP Mini 5102 which is both comfortable to use and very accurate. The track-pad is simple and standard altho with no multi-gesture support. Build-quality is rather solid with very little flex thanks to the metal chassis but it feels heavier than the netbook’s actual 2.64 pounds.

Featuring an Intel Atom N450 processor and 1GB of DDR2 memory the HP Mini 5102 offers the same performance as most netbooks. A 7200RPM 160GB hard disk drive and 10.1-inch LED back-lit screen round-up the other components. The netbook offers an Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics solution while the 10.1-inch screen delivers 1024 x 600 pixel resolutions. The netbook connects by way of 802.11 b/g/n wi-fi and also supports Bluetooth 2.1. It offers a choice amongst a 4-cell battery which keeps the netbook slim and trim and a 6-cell battery which juts out a little at the back. Other connections include three USB 2.0 ports, one VGA port, one Ethernet LAN port and a multi card reader.

Performance for the HP Mini 5102 is to be expected of an Intel Atom N450 powered netbook as it may handle most office applications, write emails and surf the Internet. You may playback movies and music rather well but it cannot handle anything more than 480p HD movies. Audio quality on the integrated speakers is tinny at best so get a pair of headphones to go with the netbook and you must be fine. When using the 6-cell battery the netbook gets an aweinspiring eight hours and 50 minutes on a single charge, supplying a full working day’s worth of performance.

HP has included a number of nice extra features for the HP Mini 5102 including an external battery meter. While it isn’t as exact as the software based meter, it does show if you need to charge the netbook even when the netbook hasn’t been turned on, saving you time to wait for the operating scheme to load. HP has also made upgrading the netbook’s RAM a whole lot easier. Rather than unscrew the memory panel, a second press on the battery’s remotion switch pops open the panel for easy access.

Overall, the HP Mini 5102 is an astounding looking netbook which offers general performance, awful battery life and a number of utile features like an external battery meter and easy access to the memory panel. These features make it idealisti for the busy executive on the move who needs something that looks good, handles well and lasts a long time unplugged.

The sound is ok for the small size but they don’t have much bass, which is to be expected. The only real problem I have is the very stiff, springy connection wires combined with the slick, light weight plastic speaker cases made them very difficult to position as they keep moving around.
Had I known this, I wouldn’t have bought them.

Apple Macbook Pro Mc725ll A 17 Inch Laptop

The new MacBook Pro notebooks have various major new features: Intel Core i5 and i7 Processors with Turbo Boost Technology, Thunderbolt the next generation of I/O, new AMD Radeon Graphics, and FaceTime HD camera. The 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro now feature quad-core Intel Core i7 processors. And the 13-inch models jump to dual-core Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. New Thunderbolt engineering science lets you connect high-performance peripherals and high-resolution displays to one port – with data transfer rates up to 10 Gbps. Thunderbolt is based on two rudimentary technologies: PCI Express and DisplayPort. And because Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, the video ordinary for high-resolution displays, any Mini DisplayPort display plugs right into the Thunderbolt port. To connect a DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, or VGA display, just use an existent optional adapter. AMD Radeon graphics on the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro are up to 3x quicker than those in former models, so you may take everything from games to CAD to HD video projects anywhere. FaceTime makes full-screen HD video calls that are astonishingly crisp. And thanks to the new widescreen format, you may get your friends in the picture, too. And with Mac OS X Snow Leopard and iLife ’11, you’re sure to get a great Mac notebook – all in a precision aluminum unibody enclosure that’s less than an inch thin. 17.0-inch (diagonal) high-resolution LED-backlit shiny display, 1920-by-1200 solution Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor and AMD Radeon HD 6750M (1TB GDDR5 consecrated memory) with automatic graphics switching Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive (DVD+-R DL/DVD+-RW/CD-RW) AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi Wireless (based on IEEE 802.11n specification) Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR 10/100/1000 Gigabit BASE-T Ethernet FaceTime HD Camera Audio Stereo speakers with subwoofer, omnidirectional microphone ExpressCard/34 slot Expansions – 3 x USB 2

Both have been excellent laptops and have remarkably similar features given the years between them. However, what makes the difference here is pure raw speed.

The i7 processor has four cores each running at 2.2Ghz and the ability to “hyperthread” to operate in a virtual eight core mode. Applications must be written in a specific way to take full advantage of the multiple cores, however the processor has another trick up its sleeve in such cases. If some of the cores are underutilized then the processing speed of the those in use are bumped up. This translates into blazing speed across the board.

Other improvements include automatic switching between the two included (and upgraded) video processors, one for high performance and the other for economic power consumption. A new “Thunderbolt” port is provided, which permits extremely high-speed data transmission to and from external devices (as soon as they become available with this new standard!). This is in addition to the more familiar set of ports, including gigabit ethernet, Firewire 800, USB2.0, digital audio in/out, analog audio in/out, magsafe power, etc.

While this laptop may not physically appear to be a new model, I feel this is an advantage unto itself. This being my second unibody mac, I can attest that Apple has a brilliant case design that needs no modification. One needs only to pick it up to immediately feel the solid build quality and ruggedness despite its thin and relatively lightweight specs. The body is carved from a solid block of aluminum, and save for the back plate there are no visible seams or screws. There is a world of difference between this and most other plastic laptops.

Unfortunately Apple has decided to saddlebag this wicked-fast tank with a relatively pokey 5400rpm hard drive, which ends up being a noticeable bottleneck in performance at startup and other disk-intensive times. I appreciate the capacity of the included 750GB drive, but swapping it out with my existing 500GB solid state hybrid drive provided an additional performance boost well worth the reduced storage space. Incidentally, changing just about any of the internal components appears to be relatively straight forward, as the back plate removes to expose all.

To conclude, this is one speedy machine who’s only noticeable flaw is the included large but unimpressive hard drive. Swap it out for a faster drive (especially a SSD) and this is a laptop that cannot be topped.

Kim
INTRODUCTION
Deciding on which size MacBook Pro one “needs” can be a fun and bewildering process. When I went into an Apple Store, I quite literally found myself envisioning a particular niche need for each of their MacBook Air 11″, 13″, MacBook Pro 13″, 15″, and 17″ models!

In the end, I decided that the MBP 13″ screen was too small for my needs and although the i5 and i7 CPUs in the MBP 13″ were significantly faster than the previous generation CPUs, they actually underperformed the previous generation in their graphics intensive applications as the integrated Intel GPU was not as robust as the older generation MBP 13″ models.

That left the MBP 15″ and 17″ models with screen sizes suitable for my needs. The MBP 15″ is offered in either the 2.0 vs 2.2 gHz i7 speeds and only the 2.2 gHz model comes with the discrete graphics (i.e. AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory).

Considering that the price difference between the MBP 15″ with the 2.2 gHz i7 (with AMD 6750M GPU) and the MBP 17″ was not as great as I expected, I went with the MBP 17″.

PROS
1. Amazingly light for a laptop of its size (i.e. 6.6 lbs). In many ways, it is the perception of weight and size that matters more than the actual measurements. I own a 2008 MBP 15″ which is 1.1 lbs lighter, and yet this MBP 17″ actually seemed lighter, because of its larger dimensions confined within a thickness of less than 1″.
2. Fantastically bright, beautiful LCD. The viewing angles vertically and horizontally are fantastic (and something Apple owners take for granted anyways).
3. Although the sizes of the individual pixels at full resolution (1920 x 1200) do seem smaller than my 2008 MBP 15″, they are not too small for me. The text and graphics are sharp and clear.
4. Pure CPU speed with the i7 quad-core Sandy Bridge 2.2 gHz. I haven’t benchmarked this personally, but search online and you will find that this generation MBP is significantly faster than the previous generation models.
5. Separate discrete graphics (i.e. AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory).
6. Phenomenal battery life of 7 hours (using more real-world testing specifications to which Apple has recently changed)
7. Quiet (so far) but I anticipate the fans will turn on with heavy GPU intensive use
8. Great chiclet (i.e. island-style) keys that allow for great tactile feedback to touch typers with lit keys
9. Phenomenal glass track pad that Mac users have come to expect. The OS allows for different finger gestures like pinch and zooming (just like on the iPhone)
10. Amazingly simple and fast setup using Apple’s built in migration tools. When I first started the MBP, it allowed me to hook up a FireWire cable to the other MBP and it transferred all my applications, documents, and settings automatically. The transfer of data was amazingly fast, > 300 GB of total data over 2-3 hours!
11. Same great Apple cable management system with the small AC adapter with the interchangeable power cord and MagSafe magnetic connector
12. Same great touches that existed on much older MacBook Pros that you expect, photolight sensor, easy ability and detection of external monitors while remembering the individual relative screen positions so swapping multiple monitors is easier, amazing 1 hour backup intervals using Time Machine, incredibly fast startup and sleep/awake even without a solid state drive, FaceTime camera
13. Mac OS X Snow Leopard with its rock stable UNIX heritage
14. No need for virus check software (so far)
15. New Thunderbolt (i.e. Light Peak) interface via mini-DisplayPort which allows bidirectional 10 Gb/s bandwidth
16. Phenomenal resale value of Apple MBPs when you do need to sell to upgrade later

CONS
1. Before update 10.6.7, there have been reports that when all 4 cores with 8 threads are running, the MBP i7′s have been freezing for some users. Supposedly after 10.6.7, most of these issues were solved. I have not yet tested this but there hasn’t been any freezing in the short time that I’ve been using this MBP 17″. (Those who have experienced this have reported using a 3rd party utility to select either the discrete or integrated GPU seems to solve the problem.)
2. There have been reports that some models of external LCD displays have had problems as being recognized as TV’s rather than computer monitors when attached to the mini-display Thunderbolt connector. It may be more pronounced when using a mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable (than when using a mini-DP to DVI or mini-DP to HDMI cable).
3. Although Thunderbolt (i.e. Light Peak) seems amazing and is far more revolutionary than USB3 or eSATA, there are no devices that take advantage of this yet. I expect that these devices will also cost a premium for all of us early adopters. Thankfully, there is still a dedicated FireWire 800 port.
4. The MBP in the 17″ model does not come with a SecureDigital memory card slot. While the 17″ MBP lacks this feature found in the other MBPs, there is an ExpressCard/34 slot as well as a third USB 2.0 port.

CONCLUSION
The MBP 17″ has exceeded my expectations and is indeed, like most Apple products, far greater than the sum of its amazing parts.

Ward
The new MacBook Pro (released in 2011) is one of the best computers you can currently buy. The recent hardware improvements have made it a top notch computer.

PROS: VERY fast, up to 8gb of RAM, execellent design, great battery life, great for photo and video editing

CONS: Price is too high, Soild state drives should be default at this price point, warrenty is below the indrustry standard

My only major complaints are the price (which is no shock – it’s a Mac) and the overall package. For what Apple is charging you should really get at least a 256gb (if not 512) SS Drive included. That would make this one of the best computers available anywhere.

The hardware in this model doesn’t just beat the previous versions is crushes them. In under 60 seconds you will be online. I’ve never owned a PC (or Mac) that loads that fast. The wireless connection is very fast as well. It seems like everything about this Mac is faster. One comparrison I can draw is the time it takes to rip a DVD to the hard drive. With my last MacBook Pro it normally took about 60 minutes to rip a full length movie. With this Mac it takes about 20 minutes.

Some computers have amazing specs. Some computers are sleek and sexy. No computer combines form and function like Apple does.

And because Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, the video general for high-resolution displays, any Mini DisplayPort display plugs right into the Thunderbolt port. To connect a DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, or VGA display, just use an existent optional adapter. AMD Radeon graphics on the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro are up to 3x more immediate than those in former models, so you may take everything from games to CAD to HD video projects anywhere. FaceTime makes full-screen HD video calls that are astonishingly crisp. And thanks to the new widescreen format, you may get your friends in the picture, too. And with Mac OS X Snow Leopard and iLife ’11, you’re sure to get a outstanding Mac notebook – all in a precision aluminum unibody enclosure that’s less than an inch thin. 15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit shiny widescreen display, 1440-by-900 solution Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor and AMD Radeon HD 6750M (1TB GDDR5 consecrated memory) with automatic graphics switching Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive (DVD+-R DL/DVD+-RW/CD-RW) AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi Wireless (based on IEEE 802.11n specification) Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR 10/100/1000 Gigabit BASE-T Ethernet SDXC Card Slot FaceTime HD Camera Audio Stereo speakers with subwoofer, omnidirectional microphone Expansions – 2 x USB 2.0, FireWire 800, Audio line in minijack (di

Aside from a TI-99 we had when I was a kid and the Apple IIc computers at my middle school, I’ve always been a Windows guy. I feel very comfortable in the Windows environment and have been building my own PCs for about 15 years. I don’t hate Microsoft. But when the need for another laptop became clear, I decided to focus my search on the higher end machines. I wanted good horsepower, but I especially wanted a nicer form factor than the creaky Dells I had become accustomed to. As I had fallen in love with the interface on my iPhone, I decided it was time to give MacBooks a try. I kept my Windows desktop in case I ran into compatibility problems.

The short version of that story is that I quickly dismantled my PC and now use this laptop as my only machine. I am fortunate to be able to do so because my work as an attorney requires only Word, Excel, and an internet browser. As a bonus, my copy of Lightroom 3 also installed on the MacBook. I’m trying not to sound like a Mac zealot, so let’s have a list:

-Aluminum unibody is no marketing gimmick. It’s sturdy and feels great with no flex and no creaking. Looks nice, too.

-Keyboard is well-engineered. The key travel and spacing between keys feel just right for my taste. There is no flex here, either, which I often find disconcerting on other laptops.

-Trackpad is a marvel. It really is. It’s very large, but I’ve yet to feel like it’s in the way. And the finger movements are intuitive and work very well.

-The screen is bright, clear and has great color. The reflectivity is sometimes an issue in bright locations, but I find tilting it a little solves most problems. Otherwise, you can custom order the anti-glare screen direct from Apple.

-The lid closes with a magnet, so there’s nothing to break.

-It is very fast. In my experience, Mac OS X starts up and shuts down far faster than a comparably spec’ed Windows machine. I have yet to feel a need for 8 GB of RAM, but an upgrade would only cost $90 if you know how to do it yourself. Otherwise, I have no issues running lots of standard programs at once.

-Comes with Time Machine. As an attorney and amateur photographer, I have lots of stuff that needs to be backed up regularly and reliably. Time Machine works so well and so seamlessly that I can’t imagine how I survived before.

-Spotlight is brilliant. Type in any word, and Spotlight almost instantly gives you results from your entire hard drive, including INSIDE your searchable documents, preferences, web results, and even definitions of words.

-Seven hours of battery life is very possible, even on wireless. I can sit in Starbucks for hours unplugged and still have plenty of life left. The caveat is that you really can only surf and use programs like Word. I also have Flash installed, which is a huge battery drainer, so I grabbed a Flash-blocking program that let’s me choose which Flash files to activate. Nice solution.

-HD webcam. Nice quality, though I haven’t really done more than messed around with it.

-The magnetic power cable is slick.

-As a former Windows user, I find the Mac OS X interface to be really nice and intuitive. There’s obviously a learning curve, though I’ve found it be surprisingly short. Lion is anticipated to be a nice upgrade, too.

-PRICE! Well, a lot of people complain about the Apple premium, and it definitely exists. I found this laptop to be a few hundred dollars higher than the really nice Windows laptops with mostly similar specs, although I don’t think comparing raw horsepower between two different operating systems is always an accurate benchmark. I live on my computer, so I’m willing to pay a little more to get what I want. It’s like buying a BMW because you have to spend three or four hours a day in your car. Whether that value equation works for you or not is up to you and your checkbook.

-Anything I dislike? Not really. I’d like maybe one more USB port and a CF card reader. I’d love to start seeing cheaper SSDs in these things, but that’s really not Apple’s fault. Decent SSDs with any size are still expensive for everyone. I was a little nervous about having a 5400 RPM HDD. I think transferring large NEF files from the card reader might be fractionally slower. The tradeoff in battery life is probably worth it. Will Thunderbolt be worth it? Who knows? I don’t care just yet, but ask me next year.

I know there’s more to say, but I’m running out of steam. I’m happy to discuss anything in the comments.

Indeed, significant may be an understatement when it comes to the increase of processor performance offered by the updated machines. Quick thanks to Amazon and Apple Stores for having these immediately available at launch.

The primary upgrade to this revision? The processor! Intel has a brand new architecture called Sandy Bridge, and these MacBook Pros are the first Macs to feature this technology. Some have called it some of the most significant changes to Intel architecture since Pentium 4 was introduced. These 15-inch MacBook Pros as well as its big brother, the 17-inch, not only take advantage of Sandy Bridge, but the Quad Core i7 Variant. Quad Core processor in a notebook Mac! Wow.

I actually chose the 13-inch model for my personal use (only Dual Core on the 13-inch), but a 15-inch is replacing an aging iMac at the office to save space and leap over its performance. These Quad Core Chips are amazing. Early benchmarks are showing this entry-level 15-inch, 50 percent faster than the upper end i7 15-inch MacBook pro from a year ago. A dramatic improvement. This higher end model is even better. Furthermore, if you’re still on a Core 2 Duo machine such as the iMac I am replacing, the performance is as much as 2.5 times faster and 3x faster with this higher end model. At least in terms of the processor. This is most beneficial in processor intensive applications, for consumers such applications are iMovie and Garageband. Professionals will see the new processors beneficial in any professional photo editing, video, or music work.

This model also includes a fantastic dedicated graphics card with 1GB of graphics memory. 1GB of graphics memory is a a first for Mac notebooks.

One downside is that due to cost, the machine still comes with a spinning hard drive standard. In this case, the standard drive is a 5400 RPM 750 GB drive. That offers plenty of storage, but is slightly slower than a desktop 7200RPM drive and much slower than a new, solid state drive. You do have options. You can special order the machine from Apple with a 7200RPM drive, or Solid State Drive. However, what I have decided to do, is simply, when I’m ready, swap out the drive myself. Other World Computing sells solid state drives compatible. It might not be easy for every user, but for those with some computer experience, it is a fairly easy swap. Then I can install a faster solid state drive, when the more acceptable capacity drives come down a bit in price. You might also choose to do the swap yourself because you can then put the hard drive that was originally in the machine, into an external enclosure, and use it as an external drive for backup. Of course, any damage you cause to the machine would not be covered under warranty. Therefore, if you have any concern, you might want to see if you can special order from Apple online, or in many situations, you will find the standard hard drive to be acceptable.

After the processor advancement, Thunderbolt is the other great new technology included in this revision to the MacBook Pro. Thunderbolt looks like the Mini Displayport that was already included on the MacBook Pros. Indeed, it will still function perfectly as a Mini Displayport, for connecting an external display. However, Thunderbolt is more importantly a new interface to connect external devices in the future, such as, external hard drives, HD camcorders, and perhaps even iPads, iPods, or iPhones someday. Data would then transfer many times faster to and from these devices than it does currently. These devices were not available at the time of the MacBook Pro’s launch, but we have already heard that external drives should be available later this year with Thunderbolt connectivity.

iSight camera has been upgraded to HD resolution and Face Time pre-installed on the computer. This gives you the ability to video chat, easily, with other Macs and notably, iPhone 4s and the newest iPod Touch with front facing camera.

The consumer software you expect to be included by Apple is once again here. The latest version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (operating system), iLIfe 11 including iPhoto, Garageband, iMovie, iDVD, and iWeb is all here. OS X always includes Safari web browser, iTunes, and Mail applications too. The average user would be good to go out of the box. You might pick up Microsoft Office for your office document needs, or simply purchase Apple’s iWork applications (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) from new Mac App Store on your computer.

The new MacBooK Pros, thanks to Sandy Bridge technology are fast. They will save you time, when using processor intensive applications. Time in business, saves people money and frustration. The average consumer might see less gains with this update as physically the MacBook Pro has retained it identical appearance, size, and weight. Nevertheless, under the unibody, improvements have certainly occurred which result in a much faster notebook. The fact that these 15-inch and 17-inch models now include Quad Core Processors standard is really extraordinary. This is putting recent top of the line desktop performance, into a sleek and attractive Mac Notebook. A breakthrough. Recommended Product!

I have spent months reviewing different laptops. I’ve gone through at least 10 laptops in the last year looking for that one laptop that I will be pleased with and keep for more than a year or two. I’ve had Acer, HP, Compaq, Asus, Sony, Toshiba, and others. Sony was the only laptop that didn’t go FUBAR within a year or so.

So, I thought I would give Apple a shot and I was not disappointed. I first tried out a 17″ dual core that was super but the resolution was just too small for my eyes and I returned it. But I was so impressed with the quality of the case, the screen (albeit the resolution too small for my eyes), the quality of the innards (no cheap stuff under this hood), the quality of the power cord, the very fast 800 firewire, the backlight keyboard, the ease of typing on the keyboard, and the mouse pad. The mouse pad on this laptop was the first one I have not had to disable while typing. I have no idea why we have been stuck with those stupid PC mouse pads for so long when the solution was so easy! On the Apple laptop you push the pad down instead of tapping it. This means the cursor does not move to some abstract place and you find yourself typing three pages back!

But, then Intel released their new Sandy chips. I figured that Apple would not use these chips for some time so I started looking at PCs again just for the new chip. I couldn’t bring myself to buy a PC after owning a Apple. Fortunately Apple did release these new Macbook Pros with Intel’s new chip with increased graphic memory and the new Thunderbolt. Plus Apple increased the speed of the memory.

I just could not help myself and I purchased this MBP 15″ with the 2.2 i7 Sandy Bridge with the 1G memory. I am very glad I did. This laptop is fast. Its unibody case makes this the most solid and durable laptop on the market. The innards are easy to access to upgrade memory and the hard drive. Everything inside this machine is neatly arranged and is of top quality. The battery is rated for seven hours which is pretty accurate. The Mac OS is written to take advantage of the quad core chip, memory, etc. The LED screen is crisp and clear, and with the regular 1440X900 resolution I can easily use this laptop without any eyestrain.

I only have one puzzling complaint about this new laptop. Why in the world would a company build one of the fastest top quality laptops in the world and stick a hard drive spinning at 5400 RPM? Yes it is a 750 gigabyte drive, which few people including myself could never fill. But running at 5400 RPM? I just cannot understand this.

You can order the drive spinning at 7200 RPM or opt for a SSD on the Apple online store. The strange thing is that the 7200 RPM drive is the same price as the drive spinning at 5400 RPM. But that is not the point. Yes, most people will never notice the speed difference between a 5400 RPM and a 7200 RPM drive unless you are doing some pretty intensive media editing or are a avid game player. The point is why build a top of the line laptop and stick in a old busted down 5400 RPM hard drive like an afterthought. I fixed this discrepancy by installing a new Intel 160G SSD (solid state drive).

I have been using laptops since 1991 when they made great paperweights when they died. This is the best laptop I have ever owned. Do yourself a favor and try one. Even if you don’t like it you can always return it. I don’t think you will, but you do have that option.

You use your laptop to check emails, work while traveling and to upload photos to percentage with your friends and family. If you want to take your laptop, netbook or other form of computer with you when you travel, what do you need to assure that you may plug it in wherever you are? Let’s look at the requirements for traveling with your laptop.

Simplest Solution for International Use

Many or most laptops already have a power cord and adapter that’s just in regards to ready for global use. This is the cable with the rectangular black box located someplace along it is length. Most of these cables may receive voltages from 100 to 240 volts, which will concede you to use electricity from gorgeous much anywhere.

The issue even though is you can not plug it in at your destination because you will likely have a plug type (3 prong, etc) that won’t fit into those funny little outlets in other countries. All you need is a simple adapter to grant the plug to fit into the country’s outlet type. Your power cord will take care of the rest and receive whatsoever voltage the outlet throws at you. You may stay plugged in or you may plug in just to charge up the batteries.

Laptop Chargers

If you have lost or broken your initial cable you may find universal chargers that fit galore laptops. Ensure that the little round plug fits your laptop before you leave. Most come with an assortment of connections. Also make sure that the voltage is rated for 110 to 240v. You’ll still need a plug adapter for your destination country, so the plug will physically fit into the wall outlet.

Universal laptop chargers oftentimes come with USB outlets which are handy for charging other portable devices.

Travel Adapter

This is a little converter which will give you 110 volts (or whatsoever your voltage is) like back home. They often times come with an potpourri of plugs to fit outlets in dissimilar areas of the world. Use this if you have a few dissimilar electronic items that need “home style” voltage.

It’s rather easy to take your laptop overseas. First check your current power cable for it is voltage rating, then make sure your plug will fit in to the outlet at your destination. That’s genuinely all there is to it! For each device you have, other than your laptop, check it is power cable and determine if you need to buy any other adapters or charging devices.

One burned up an AC adapter under warranty. When we needed another when out of warranty, we were shocked to learn Toshiba wanted $89 for just the AC adapter!!! Thankfully, we checked Amazon and found this adapter. We were shocked when it arrived and it was an actual Toshiba product!!! Oddly, the unit direct from toshiba didn’t include the power cord. This unit comes with an even more heavy duty cord than the OEM. It has worked flawlessly and I think I paid about $10 for the unit shipped!!!

As stated by the previous reviewer, the power cable is much, much shorter than the original. It also has a 3-prong plug not a 2-prong as pictured which meant I could not use it with my existing extension cable.

I’m a little disappointed that the product does not match the listed item but as it seems to be working ok with my laptop and I don’t want the hassle of returning it I’m going to hang on to it and just buy a different extension cable.

Didn’t expect to receive a Toshiba OEM for the price. Looks to be about the same build quality as the original. Cord is a little shorter, but about the same gauge. Works so far on my Toshiba A205 and P205 laptops. Gets warm to the touch, but not excessively so.

-Updated 11/26/10
The LITEON 72W-LT01 needed to be replaced after about a year. The cord must have a break in it near the plug that goes into the computer. It works, but needs a lot of wiggling to get it to charge. Too annoying. Ordered another. Received a PA-1750-11 from BetterStuff LowerPrice. Absolute junk. Wires are short and very thin. It died after a day and a half. Probably not worth the effort of dealing with a return, so I plan to cut the cord off it and splice it onto the old one.

Basically it is a crap shoot with these. You might get a good one or junk depending on who you buy it from.

Please note, this version of the Applecare.Protection.Plan is ONLY for the Macbook Pro 15″ and 17″.

The Macbook and the Macbook Pro 13″ are covered under another version of the Applecare Protection Plan -AppleCare Protection Plan for Mac Laptops 13 Inches and Below (NEWEST VERSION)

The Applecare Protection Plan – an expensive requirement if you buy / own an Apple notebook.

What most people don’t know is that Apple doesn’t make the logicboards (motherboards) or the processors or the hard drives or the DVD burners inside their Macbooks. Like all computer manufacturers, Apple sources its parts from component manufacturers like Seagate, Nvidia, Intel, Sony etc etc. These parts just like all electronic components can and may fail after a period of time. Once a part fails and if your macbook pro’s one year standard warranty is over, Apple charges extremely high fees to repair or replace parts.

For example – Motherboard replacement – $1000 to $1200. Superdrive replacement – $200 to $300. LCD screen replacement – $800 to $1000. It’s better to pay for Applecare once than pay Apple exorbitant repair fees every time a part fails.

Basically, the A.P.P. is a 2 year warranty extension to your apple laptop’s standard one year hardware warranty. It provides unlimited phone support and hardware diagnosis. It also offers Mail-in repair for Mac notebooks using a prepaid shipping box provided by Apple and service by an apple store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

The A.P.P. also gives you global repair coverage so if a hardware issues arises while you’re in another country and there’s an Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider near by, you can take your mac in for diagnosis and repair.

It does not offer any sort of damage protection or on-site repair.

Please remember to buy the A.P.P. if you plan to do so before the first year of ownership is up. If you bought your machine on X Date 2011 – buy the A.P.P.before X Date 2012. Apple will not honor an A.P.P. policy bought even 2 days after the first year is over (in most cases unless you get lucky and speak to a friendly agent on the phone willing to relax the rules a bit)

I’m sorry to be recommending an extended warranty, but it’s a necessary evil with Apple products. There is no guarantee that something will go wrong with your expensive mac notebook after the first year but if something does go wrong after the first year, it’s better to be covered by the A.P.P. and avoid paying those exorbitant repair/replacement costs.

NOTE – Don’t buy Applecare from Apple. Shop around – there are good deals to be found at Authorised Apple resellers and other legit online outlets. Amazon used to be one of the best places to purchase an A.P.P. from but Amazon has raised it’s price also. It used to sell the A.P.P. for $ 299 dollars, but has now increased the price to $ 325 and it’s been stuck there for a while. I have no idea why Amazon raised the price but you should buy when the price is low or a price correction occurs.
Hope this helps!

10 of 11 people found the following review helpful.
Great service
By L. Harris
AppleCare is both an extended warranty and an extension of phone support. It extends the warranty from one year to three, and phone support from 90 days to three years. Note that if you purchase a display at the same time you purchase your MacBook Pro, AppleCare for your computer also covers your display.

It’s impossible to predict if you’ll get your money’s worth out it or not, as that will be determined by whether or not your MacBook Pro needs any repairs in the second or third year and how likely you are to need the extended phone support. I’ll just tell you my story so you’ll understand why I gave AppleCare five stars.

I purchased AppleCare with my first MacBook Pro, which I bought in May, 2006, along with a 30″ Cinema Display. The computer, just over five years old at this point, has never needed a repair. However, the batteries in that model clearly had problems. If you don’t use the computer on the battery a fair bit the battery goes bad. Once that happens, you can still use the computer on the battery, but at some point the computer will just shut down. No warning, it doesn’t go to sleep, and the battery indicator in the menu bar says it still has plenty of charge.

I had at least three batteries replaced under AppleCare, maybe four, and the last one was actually after the three years of AppleCare were up. But I fussed at them for using what I considered a faulty design for the batteries and in the interest of customer satisfaction they gave me one last battery, which they didn’t have to do.

The display, on the other hand, did need a repair. It just died and wouldn’t light up. I called Apple and explained the problem. They shipped me a box overnight. I packed up the display and called FedEx to arrange a pickup the next day. Unfortunately the folks at Apple couldn’t reproduce the problem, so they shipped it back and sure enough it worked. Some time later, after the three years were up and it was no longer covered under AppleCare, the problem recurred. Since it was out of warranty at that point I did some testing and eventually figured out that the problem only showed up if I plugged the display’s USB or FireWire connector into my computer, something I didn’t normally do. So I called Apple to see what it would cost to repair, and after explaining the history the guy offered to repair it for free since they missed the problem when I sent it in the first time. Again, they went above and beyond their legal obligation.

In general I’ve found Apple’s service to be top notch. My Time Capsule’s power supply died. They overnighted a box to me, had FedEx pick it up, fixed it, and overnighted it back to me. They never try to weasel out of doing a repair and even cover them when they don’t have to, which I think is very cool.

In my experience, when you call for phone support you get really nice people, located in America, who are generally pretty helpful. Without AppleCare phone support is free for 90 days and $50 per incident after that. With AppleCare it’s free for three years. So if you upgrade your OS two years from now and have a problem you can call them for help and it’s free. How much this is worth to you just depends on you and whether you know someone who can help if you have a problem.

So for me AppleCare was totally worth it and I had absolutely no complaints. If you’re pretty Mac/computer savvy and use the battery right AppleCare may not be a good value for you. You have a year to buy it after you buy the computer, so you have the option to wait and see how things go. If you make it to the end of the year and haven’t had any problems you might decide it’s not worth the $300.

On the other hand, if you need to replace a battery within the first year, need phone support at times, or it comes out that your model has a component with a higher-than-expected failure rate, you’ll probably want to get the AppleCare coverage. Just remember you have to buy it while the computer is still covered under the original one-year warranty.

I just bought a new MacBook Pro. The current plan is to see how things go for the first year and decide near the end if I think AppleCare makes sense for this one. I think the new ones use a better battery design, so I’m hoping I won’t I won’t have the battery problems I had before.

Hope that helps.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
I had good luck with Apple Care, purchased at Amazon
By W. Johnson
In early 2009, I purchased a 2008 17 inch MacBook at one third less than list price, from an online discount eTailer. This discount e-tailer (sometimes sarcastically referred to as “less than honest Abe’s”) gave me a strong pitch to purchase an extended repair contract from a camera repair service. Instead, I purchased AppleCare at a discount, separately, from Amazon.com. Registration of Apple Care was easy, online, using the serial number in the box, shipped from Amazon.

Local Apple users’ groups told me that I was asking for trouble. In their opinions, Apple disapproves of online e-tailers selling anything Apple, at a discount. In their opinions, Apple hardware sold at any price less than list price is somehow “grey-market” and it will be difficult to get Apple to repair grey-market hardware.

However, this worked out for me. That 2008 MacBook started to run hot as a stove, literally. Although it ran without any hangs or crashes, it was hot enough to make typing uncomfortable on my wrists. About 20 months after I bought it, one of the cooling fans started to whine like a siren.

Apple telephone support told me to take the computer to an Apple Store, which happened to be close to me. I did not need to ship my computer. When I visited the Apple Store, they treated my computer as if I had bought it from Apple.com. The repair was at no cost to me, and completed in two days. My MacBook now runs cool, literally! Whatever was wrong with the cooling system, the “Mac Geniuses” fixed it, permanently.

My conclusion, based on this single experience:
It is possible to purchase Apple computers, at significant discounts. But I recommend getting the extended Apple Care warranty. First, if you live near an Apple Store, you can get fairly quick repairs, in my experience. Second, you get Apple telephone support. That is not included in with repair contracts from a camera repair service, as far as I can tell.

Of course, if the price of Apple Care rises, you might consider “self insurance”, that is, doing without the extended warranty, and paying for repairs or replacement, out of your own pocket. In my case, I probably broke even.

However, it is not nearly as functional as the old State Series software–and harder (maybe impossible) to configure as well. Many key functions are not yet available. It would not access my old State Series. Support is abysmal–the only way to get phone support is to finally figure out their support email, then wait 72 hours for a phone call in response. SOME DAY they may get their act together–the concept is good, but they are just over their heads.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful.
A waste of your time and money
By David
Other reviewers are correct. This is a horrible implementation of a good idea. I already had installed the National Parks and a state TOPO set. Thinking an upgrade to the latest version MIGHT pay off, I paid additional for an upgrade.

Unfortunately, the programmers didn’t have enough wits to install the upgrade into the same (default) directory as the legacy products I’d bought — so I couldn’t use the program. The interface was simply a confused mess when trying to analyze the problem. A call to “customer service” led to a message saying to send them a detailed email about the problem.

Finally, I figured out that the app had installed itself to the wrong directory, so I reinstalled and changed the default installation directory. That got the program working. Sort of.

Now, when I click on a National Park from the main map, it tells me I need to buy some other product — even though I’ve paid for the National Park maps and this was supposed to upgrade me to use them better.

The user interface is simply awful. It is non-intuitive, clunky, and obviously designed with the user’s needs as an afterthought. Think: early 1990s Windows3.1 applications on a modern platform, and you’ll get the idea.

I also notice that the elevation shows up upside down on many maps. For example, when looking to see how high a point is, the maps show “0098″ instead of “8600″ when looking up the side of a mountain.

I “updated” the map I was viewing online, and maps from 2002 were installed. Why weren’t they included on the installation CDs that were just recently released? Beyond that, the maps I’ve sampled are simply wrong. I see a jeep trail where I KNOW none exists, and other trails I know about don’t show up. Without going any further at this point, I am sure the app has many more bugs to be discovered.

The 3D mode won’t draw across dual monitors, unlike Google’s offering.

National Geographic reminds me of Disney’s software: turning out a lot of junk to milk unsuspecting consumers just cause they’re big and they can get by with it. This app will make you pay more money to National Geographic in “updates” to see useful detail(i.e. 7.5 series).

Yep, unless you’re on dialup, use Google Earth instead. It’s free and it works far better for seeing the true lay of the land.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful.
Not the 1
By Ken L. Carpenter
This isn’t the 1 to buy. Topo! uses USGS data. It is a long way from what we have come to expect and use when compared to Google Earth. As you zoom in, the maps get fuzzy. If you export these maps to a gps unit, the maps look the same as on the computer. Zoom in and they get fuzzy.

The engine that Topo! is built on seems to operate in in an odd way. Certainly not smoothly as in Google Earth. The data on the DVD is only basic. You have to connect to the web and the “store” to see more mapping detail. It isn’t a free standing program that can be used in the field unless you have already downloaded the detailed maps.

Need topo maps for your Magellan? Try Topo USA. Topo! isn’t the 1 for you.

I’m writing this guide after being asked a few times on ways to connect a laptop to a TV. People want to achieve this for assorted reasons. First, it’s great for demonstrations at work, school, or home. It’s likewise commodious for looking at pictures and videos to friends, observing DVDs, and it is now even being employed for looking at Blu-ray and other high definition content on the HDTV.

First, we want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your laptop when it comes to displaying it on the TV.

If you have an HDTV with HDMI inputs, check if your laptop has an HDMI output. If it does, you’re in luck! Your HDTV may display from your laptop in HD resolutions. All you need is an HDMI cable to connect them. If your HDTVs HDMI inputs are used up already. An HDMI switch would be the best solution for you. We supply switches that may connect up to 5 dissimilar HDMI origins to 1 HDMI input.

If you don’t have an HDMI output on the laptop, check if it has a DVI output. Some ASUS, and Dell laptops have them. If you do, you may connect your laptop to an HDTV with an HDMI to DVI cable. They are both digital cables so this will fabricate the same HD resolutions as a frequent HDMI cable.

If your laptop doesn’t have HDMI or DVI out, it ought to have a VGA output. Connecting with VGA is capable of high resolutions. However, dissimilar TVs aid dissimilar resolutions with VGA. You will have to check the greatest or most complete or best possible solution your TV model supports with VGA.

Pretty much all laptops come with an S-Video output. It’s not going to be as outstanding of a picture, but it will surely do the occupation with an S-Video cable.

After you have connected your chosen cable, boot up your laptop and see if it has detected your TV. If not, you have to go into your display properties and look for the settings that will enable your TV to display from your laptop. Where to find the setting will vary depending on your graphics card (just look around). If you are having disturb getting your TV to show a picture, make sure you have modified the display drivers on your laptop. Now you’re in all probability going to want sound from something other than your laptop speakers. So you may choose to output it to your TV, or blast it from your home theater audio receiver.

The best way to connect audio to your TV or receiver is through a digital audio cable. Both a digital coaxial cable or Toslink optical audio cable will work outstanding for crisp high quality audio. Just make sure your laptop has either a digital coaxial or an optical audio output. Some laptops use the headphone jack to double as a digital coaxial (S/PDIF) output. If you use this method, your going to need a 3.5mm to RCA adapter with a digital coaxial cable. If your laptop has none of these outputs and you still in truth want that high quality sound. Don’t worry! You may still get an external (USB) sound card that has digital coaxial out or optical out. I commend the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 SB1090 with Toslink Optical audio out.

Another way, which won’t require any add-ons, is to use the headphone (3.5mm) jack on your laptop to the RCA (red and white) inputs on your TV or receiver. To do this, all you need is a 3.5mm to 2 RCA adapter with a 2 RCA audio cable.

I recognise all of these cables may seem mixing up to you. If you’re having trouble finding out what each cable looks like or find out more with regards to a cable, check out the Cable Guide at CableTrain.com. All of these cables are available for you on our web site as well. I hope you may now with great success connect your laptop to the TV in the best way possible!

I had no problems connecting the audio and my computer doesnt have the 2 ports next to each other.
However, if your VGA port doesnt have screws to fasten the cable it is going to be very difficult to hold this in. The head of the cable is pretty bulky and heavy and without screw terminals, it falls off very easily.

It’s built solid and tough, complete with ferrites on each end and screw-down connectors (and I would highly recommend that you screw it onto to your HDTV’s connector due to its weight).

Some reviewers said the audio cable didn’t reach the output port on their laptops. They must have humongous laptops; I have a 15.4″ Toshiba Satellite, and there is no problem connecting both the VGA and audio output ports (the VGA output is located on the left side toward the rear, and the audio output is located just slightly right of center in the front), and it would easily connect if the two ports were on opposite corners.

Another reviewer said that if your laptop didn’t have a VGA port with screw-down capability, the cable was too heavy and would disconnect itself. My laptop does not have screw-down ability, but I have not had any problem with the cable disconnecting.

This is a very high-quality cable at a very reasonable price, and 15ft is plenty long enough for most applications (easily extends from the TV to the bed or sofa).

A previous reviewer mentioned the ends being a bit heavy, but anyone who’s used a VGA cable in the past won’t be surprised because it’s no different than all the rest. I use it for a 1080P image on my 40″ LCD. The signal is perfect with no apparent losses from the laptop despite the length, but I’ll admit to being skeptical before ordering. The 2 ft audio cable is plenty long to reach the other side of a laptop if needed. This definitely beats overpaying and getting much less at a major retailer.

With a load of special features and a sleek, lightweight body, the Apple MacBook Air MC503LL/A is “mobility mastered.”

Start with the revolutionary flash storage. A full 128GB of flash memory storage comes with this Apple MacBook Air, replacing the spinning hard drive that comes in a great deal of other laptops and in most desktop computer units. In replacing the spinning drive in this way, the manufacturers of the Apple MacBook Air MC503LL/A are capable to save space and develop a lighter laptop.

A 1.86GHz Intel Core Duo 2 processor offers multi-tasking support and performance with a 1066MHz FSB and 6MB L2 cache. This gives you finish performance by shifting power around where it’s necessitated and saving energy whenever and wherever the unit can. You’ve never seen such an effective processor setup.

2GB of installed DDR3 RAM with support for up to 4GB of RAM powers the system, while the NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics card provides impeccable video and fast frame rates for gaming. The 13.3-inch LED-backlit screen with 1440×900 pixel solution brings you full screen HD with crisp visual representation and bold colours.

The Apple MacBook Air MC503LL/A includes a pile of software and special features that you’re going to love. Mac OS X Snow Leopard comes with iTunes, Time Machine, Spaces, Spotlight, iChat, Safari, QuickTime, and a host of other apps and utilities. GarageBand is a fun program that allows for the creation of music and even lets you take piano lessons on your MacBook.

A special part of the MacBook Air and the entire Apple line is the AppleCare Protection Plan. This offers service for an amazing three years after your basi purchase, making sure you get all of the service and support for peripherals as needed. It’s hard to find a more comprehensive buyer help package out there.

As you may see, the Apple MacBook Air is an awful machine that exemplifies everything a laptop will have to be. With a great set of shelter packages and features, you can’t go wrong.

Nozicka
You may want to exercise caution in ordering this product. I ordered the AppleCare Protection Plan for the Mac Pro. What I was sent had the correct Amazon item label but under the shrink wrap, was visible the label “MacBook Pro”. I contacted Apple to see if this could indeed be used for the Mac Pro and they told me no and advised me to return the item to Amazon. I didn’t want to get another version of the same erroneous package, so I opted for a refund rather than a replacement.

If you order this item, make sure that what you receive is what you ordered by checking the Apple bar code labels on the bottom of the box. If they don’t agree, don’t open the shrink wrap.

This product is NOT for the Mac Book Pro Laptops. I purchased this and Apple would not register and verified that this was not for the Macbook Pro even though the label says. You need to buy the Macbook 13″ or Macbook 15″Applecare which covers either the Macbook or Macbook Pro laptops. Very confusing.
